Ruined a $22 bag of Ethiopian beans because I trusted a 4 year old grinder
Bought a bag of Yirgacheffe from a roaster in Denver last Tuesday. $22 for 12 ounces. Got it home, ground it on my old blade grinder like always, and the cup tasted like hot cardboard. Took me two days and three bad pots to figure out the grind was the problem, not the beans. Pulled out a burr grinder I got at a garage sale for $8 and the same beans tasted like blueberry and lemon. Same beans, same water, same pour over. So now I'm that guy yelling at people to ditch the blade grinder. What's the cheapest gear upgrade that actually changed your cup?
