DAE think a $40 hand grinder beats a $200 electric one for pourovers?
Everyone online talks about upgrading to an electric burr grinder like it is the only real path. I went the other way back in March. My old electric finally died and I had $200 set aside for a Baratza. Instead I spent $40 on a Timemore C2 and kept the rest.
Three months in and my pourovers taste better than they ever did with the electric. Takes about 45 seconds to grind 20 grams. I actually like the arm workout in the morning and I can adjust finer for my AeroPress without losing the setting for my V60.
The only downside is when my sister visits and wants cold brew. Grinding 80 grams by hand is rough.
Anyone else skip the electric and stick with hand grinding? How long before your arm gives out on bigger batches?
