My sister's $45 fort kit with special clips was worse than my $6 bedsheet setup
I love my sister but she keeps buying me fort stuff I never asked for. Last Christmas she got me this $45 kit from some online shop with fancy clips and a fitted sheet. I used it once in January and the clips kept popping off every time I moved, and the sheet would not stay tight on the couch. My $6 twin bedsheet from a thrift store in Akron plus two chip clips has held up for 2 years with zero issues. I think people get sold on the idea that you need special gear to make a good fort, and you really do not. The tension rod method with a couple of dining chairs works better than anything I have bought. Does anyone here actually use those clip kits and like them? I want to know if I am doing it wrong.
Wait, the clips kept popping off every time you moved? That is wild for something that costs $45. My brain cannot even process paying that much for a fort kit that falls apart the second you shift your weight. A bedsheet and chip clips have been working for people since forever, so I don't get how a company messes that up. You are not doing it wrong at all, the fancy kit is just overpriced junk with a nice label on it.
