DAE build their fort frame first? I wasted 3 years draping blankets over chairs
For the longest time I thought a good fort was just draping a big quilt over two kitchen chairs and calling it done, and it always sagged in the middle by bedtime. Then my friend Dana showed me how she does it: she sets up a frame with 4 broom handles and some clamps from her garage before the blankets even come out. I tried it two weekends ago in my living room and the roof stayed up all night, no sag, no cave-in. I always figured a frame was overkill for a quick fort, but honestly the setup took maybe 6 minutes and the whole thing felt way cozier. Now I keep a small bin by the closet with the clamps and 2 extra sheets so it's fast every time. What do you all use to keep the top from drooping, or am I the only one who went this long without a real frame?
Four broom handles and clamps for a blanket fort feels like a lot of work for something you're gonna tear down in the morning. Dana's method clearly works, but I'm not about to keep a bin of hardware by the closet just so the roof holds for one night. Half the fun is throwing it together and having it look a little janky, you know? A saggy middle is basically part of the deal. Six minutes of clamp setup is six minutes I'd rather spend actually sitting inside it.
