Figured out why my $90 throw felt worse than a $20 one from the Goodwill bin
I bought a heavy knit throw from a store downtown for around $90 two winters back and could never get warm under it, so it just sat folded on the arm of the couch. Then a friend pulled a $20 mustard yellow blanket out of the Goodwill bin on 5th and handed it to me, and that thing had me asleep in 20 minutes flat. Turns out the pricey one was mostly acrylic, which just traps cold air against you, while the cheap one was real wool that actually holds heat. Now I flip the tag and rub the fabric between my fingers before I buy anything. What's the one cheap find that beat out something you paid real money for?
Sounds more like bad luck than a price thing. Plenty of expensive wool blankets shed and itch and plenty of cheap acrylic ones keep people warm just fine. Also wool holds heat because it's scratchy and traps air, not some magic, so I'd check the label instead of trusting the vibe.
