Wrote off balayage for 3 years, then a 22 year old at my Denver salon made me eat my words
I used to think balayage was just a fancy word for grown out highlights and I'd talk clients out of it every time. Then this stylist named Kayla at the salon on Larimer started here and kept asking to try it on someone, so I finally let her do a free test on my own hair. Watching her freehand that lightener with no foils and still get a clean blend changed how I see the whole method, and now I've got 6 clients booked for it next month. Is anyone else here come around on a technique they used to hate?
Freehand lightener is way harder than it looks, took me forever to get a clean blend without foils. Best move is putting the lightener on the ends first, then working up so the top doesn't process too fast. Tell Kayla she's got skills for jumping on that at 22.
