Had a color client turn orange at the shampoo bowl and I had to fix it on the spot
I was working on a walk in at my chair in Norfolk about two weeks ago, and this woman comes in with a box dye disaster she wanted me to highlight over. I told her the mids would lift warm, she said go ahead, so I foiled her and pulled it at 20 minutes. Rinsed her out and the whole front was straight up tangerine, not even a cute copper, just orange. I kept my face calm and told her we were doing a quick tone, mixed a blue based ash in a 9 level with 10 volume and watched it like a hawk for 8 minutes. It came out a soft sandy blonde and she actually hugged me, but my hands were shaking when I mixed it. Lesson I keep relearning is box dye history means test strand or you gamble. What do you all keep on hand for those panic toners when the lift goes way warmer than you told the client?
