A client's comment about my bobby pin technique made me rethink everything

Last Tuesday I had a bride tell me my bobby pins were too visible in her updo. I've been doing hair for 8 years and always placed them the same way, crisscross with the wavy side down. She showed me a photo from her sister's wedding where the pins were hidden better. I switched to sliding them in flat against the scalp and twisting them once, now they stay hidden even with fine hair. Has anyone else gotten a tiny piece of feedback that totally changed their pin placement or sectioning?
