Ngl it hit me hard when someone pointed out the same thing to me a few months back. Felt pretty dumb sitting there realizing I'd been clinging to a wrong idea for like a decade. But honestly I think that moment of being shown the truth is almost a relief because it finally clicks and you can move on. The worst part is when you know you were wrong but nobody calls you out, so you just keep going with bad info. It takes guts to admit it too, so props for being open about it.
