Spent an entire Saturday fighting a software update that broke our takeoff tool

Our estimating software auto-updated Wednesday night. Thursday morning none of the square footage measurements matched up with the blueprint scans. Spent 6 hours on the phone with support, reinstalled twice, finally figured out the update changed the calibration on the PDF import settings. Lost a whole weekend because someone decided to push a patch without testing it first. Anyone else have updates that just wreck your workflow?

Buddy of mine runs a small cabinet shop and their CNC programming software did the same thing last month. Auto-updated overnight and suddenly all their toolpath offsets were wrong. Wasted a whole Monday cutting expensive plywood into scrap before they figured it out.

Used to be the kind of person who just clicked "update" without a second thought, figured the developers knew what they were doing. But after a similar mess where a QuickBooks update scrambled all our job cost codes, I learned to never trust an auto-update on anything work related. Now I wait at least a week and check forums like this first to see if other people are having problems. Sorry you lost your weekend, happens way too often when they push stuff out without proper testing.

Oh man, @reesel50 I gotta push back on this a little. Waiting a week just means you're running on outdated software with known security holes, and patches are usually fixing way more problems than they cause.
