Spent 3 hours tracking down a simple data mismatch" oh man, that hits close to home. I had the exact same thing happen with some job cost codes that were off by one character because someone typed a zero instead of the letter O. What worked for me was exporting the whole mess to Excel and using conditional formatting to highlight differences side by side. Sometimes the built in tools just don't cut it for weird little errors like that. Made me feel a lot better once I found it but I'm still mad about the time I lost.

Yeah "spent 3 hours tracking down a simple data mismatch" is basically my nightmare. I read this article once that said most data errors come from people typing manually instead of using dropdowns or lookups, and that stuck with me. These days I try to set up validation rules ahead of time so I don't have to play detective later.
