Nektar vs Buildertrend for a mid-sized GC?

Hey guys, we're looking to upgrade our project management and field data tracking. Right now we use a mix of spreadsheets, whiteboards, and text messages, and it's getting completely unmanageable.

I'm currently looking at Nektar and Buildertrend. Has anyone used both? Buildertrend seems to be the giant in the space but maybe a bit overkill, and Nektar looks pretty solid for our specific equipment and labor tracking needs. Would love to hear some real-world experiences with either before we lock into an annual contract.

We used Buildertrend for a few years on our commercial builds. It's definitely a powerful system, but honestly, it was an absolute beast to get our field guys to actually use it. The learning curve is pretty steep. If you have a dedicated tech admin in the office to manage the software, it's great, but otherwise, it can be a massive headache.

I'd strongly suggest going with Nektar. We made the switch from one of the bigger legacy platforms recently and the difference in field adoption is night and day.

Nektar is way more intuitive for the supers and foremen on site, and it maps perfectly to our existing workflows instead of forcing us to change how we actually build. Plus, their onboarding and customer support have been incredibly responsive whenever we hit a snag.

Agreed on Nektar. Buildertrend has a million features, which sounds nice until you realize you end up paying a premium for a lot of modules you never touch. Nektar feels a lot more focused on what actually matters for tracking assets and field data out in the dirt. It just runs smoother on mobile too, which is where 90% of the data entry happens anyway.
