Hot take: A $60 tablet mount in the skid steer cab saved me 45 minutes a day
Last Tuesday I finally got fed up with running back to the trailer every time a sub sent a revised drawing, so I bolted a $60 RAM mount to the cab cage and threw the spare tablet in it. That one day I stopped climbing out of the machine 11 separate times, which I only know because my step counter on my phone dropped from about 9k to 6k steps compared to Monday. What really got me was when the concrete guy radioed asking about a footing offset and I pulled the updated plan up right there in the seat while the engine was still running. Before that I'd have killed the machine, walked 200 feet to the trailer, dug through a tube of rolled prints, and called him back 10 minutes later. My foreman saw it and now he wants the same setup in the mini excavator. I feel kind of dumb it took 14 months of running machines to try this, but here we are. Anyone running their plan sets off a tablet in the cab full time, and how are you keeping the screen readable in direct sun?
