My uncle in Roswell warned me about the "guy in the van" outside the tourist traps, and I laughed at him til I went
Last spring I drove through Roswell, New Mexico on a road trip, mostly to see the UFO museum for a laugh. My uncle, who lives there, told me to skip the parking lots near the museum because "the guy in the van" hands out photocopied papers about the 1947 crash and follows you if you make eye contact. I thought he was messing with me. Sure enough, 10 minutes in, a guy in a beat-up gray van rolls up next to my car and hands me a 3 page sheet claiming the wreckage was swapped at Wright-Patterson. I sat in my car for 20 minutes reading it, half laughing, half weirded out. Is there like a whole network of these guys at every alien spot or was I just lucky that day?
Three pages is a lot for a parking lot handoff. Did the paper have a name or a group on it anywhere, like a stamp, a website, or a phone number at the bottom? And did the van guy say anything when you took it, or just hand it over and drive off? I'm trying to figure out if these folks are working alone or if there's some kind of loose group behind it.
