Warning: Going too smooth on a broom finish can get you sued
Heard a guy at the supply house last week bragging about how he gets his broom finish glass smooth. Told him that's a slip hazard waiting to happen. I did a driveway in Austin back in 2021 with a fine broom, homeowner's kid slipped on it after a rain. Had to redo the whole thing at my cost. Has anyone else dealt with customers asking for a finish that's too slick?

Saw a whole parking lot get resurfaced over that exact issue last month.

My buddy's landlord had to rip out his whole driveway because of that.

Oh boy, don't even get me started on that. I helped a buddy of mine with his rental property a couple years back and the whole driveway situation was a nightmare. The homeowner before him had poured asphalt right over the old concrete without checking the base. First heavy rain season came through and the whole thing just buckled in these weird waves. Had to bring in a crew to jackhammer the whole thing out, put in proper gravel and drainage, and start fresh. Cost that landlord almost eight grand. It's one of those things where you try to save a few bucks upfront and it ends up costing you three times as much down the road.
