Can we talk about fiber mesh? Wrote it off as a gimmick until a driveway pour in Amarillo

Pouring a 24x30 slab in 100 degree heat with a 3 man crew last summer, I added fiber mesh just to shut the homeowner up, and 8 months later not one hairline crack while the control slab next door is a spiderweb, so now I want to know if anyone else has seen it actually hold up or if I just got lucky.
