Why did a failing PSU take me 3 days to catch on a client's rig in Austin
The PC would randomly restart under load but all my voltage checks looked fine in BIOS, so I swapped RAM, GPU, even the motherboard before I finally threw a multimeter on the 12V rail during a stress test and watched it drop to 11.2V, has anyone else had a power supply fail that quietly?
Three days and a whole new motherboard later, I finally learned that 11.2V is basically the PSU saying "I'm tired, boss." You basically rebuilt the whole rig just to find out the one part you never suspect is the one lying to you.
