Colleague insisted I use thermal paste from 2018, now my CPU is at 95C
A guy at my old shop, Dave, swore old thermal paste works fine if you "mix it up" before applying. I had a tube of Arctic Silver from 2018 sitting in my drawer, and he said just give it a good stir with a toothpick. Well I tried it on a client's Ryzen 5 build last week, and now the thing is hitting 95 degrees under load within 10 minutes of booting up. Had to redo the whole install with fresh paste from Micro Center, and now it sits at 68C. Has anyone else had bad luck using old paste that's been sitting around for years?
