A customer's blunt remark about my cable labels stuck with me
Last month I was doing a network rack cleanup for a small law office in Columbus. I spent like 4 hours re-terminating and labeling everything with my usual color coded tags. The office manager walked by and said, 'Are these labels for you or for the next guy?' I didn't get it until I had to trace a power line through a messy bundle a week later and realized my labels only helped if someone actually read them. Now I put a simple diagram on the inside of the rack door with port names and switch locations. Took me an extra 20 minutes per job but it's saved me two service calls already. Anyone else started doing documentation after a customer called you out? Weighing if it's worth doing for small home setups too or just commercial gigs.

Good documentation is just leaving a note for future you, same as writing down a wifi password.
