Finally gave that 'warm water in your suit' trick a shot on a cold Lake Michigan job
I always thought it was a waste of time, but after shivering through the first dive, I poured a thermos of warm (not hot) water down my neck seal before the second. The difference was huge, I was actually comfortable for the first 30 minutes. Anyone have other tricks for staying warm on long, cold-water inspections?

That "first 30 minutes" is the sweet spot. It reminds me of winter fishing, where you just need to get past the initial shock. I used to wear two pairs of socks until I realized one thin wool pair inside my boots worked better. Too much bulk cuts off your own heat.

That trick works for my morning coffee thermos too.
