So my pal rocked up as Iron Man to a BBQ and things got heated
Last weekend, my friend came to a backyard BBQ dressed as Iron Man. Some people thought it was hilarious and started talking comics. Others were kinda annoyed and said it ruined the vibe. On one hand, it's his way to express fandom and it sparked fun chats. On the other, it felt like he was forcing his hobby on everyone else. What do you all think? Is cosplay cool anywhere or should it stay at cons?

Seems like the real issue is why a costume feels like "forcing" a hobby when other stuff doesn't. People wear band shirts or sports jerseys to BBQs all the time and nobody blinks. So what makes a full Iron Man suit different? Is it just the scale of it, or is there some unspoken rule that fabric costumes are okay but plastic armor isn't? Maybe the annoyed folks just felt like he was making himself the center of attention, which can mess with a chill hangout. But honestly, if a guy in a superhero suit is the biggest vibe-killer at your party, you're probably having a pretty good day. Where do you personally draw the line between fun expression and trying too hard?

Picture a backyard BBQ, @anthony129. My buddy wore a full Stormtrooper suit once but helped with the cooler and played cornhole. It worked because he blended in after the first laugh. The trying too hard part kicks in if you need help moving or can't sit down. Where does your comfort zone with guests' outfits start?

Saw someone in a Batman suit buying milk (like it was any other Tuesday) at the grocery store.
