So I just realized I've been that annoying 'well actually' guy at my local shop for like 3 years, and it took a kid asking me a simple question to see it.

Reminds me of my buddy Dave. He used to correct the barista on coffee bean origins every morning. One day she just smiled and said "cool story, your total is four dollars." He shut up real fast after that.

That "cool story" line is the perfect way to handle a know-it-all. Dave probably thought he was giving a free coffee seminar, but she reminded him it was just a transaction.
