PSA: I spent almost $200 on a 'rare' variant cover that turned out to be a fake.

I bought it from a seller at a con in Atlanta last year, and he swore it was a legit misprint. I got it graded and the company flagged it as a reprint right away. Has anyone else been burned by a fake comic they bought in person?

Yeah, "grading catches the fakes" is the whole point! I got a fake Silver Surfer #4 from a guy who seemed totally legit. The slab saved me from trying to sell it later and looking like a fool. It's just smart collecting now.
