Had a great day at the comic shop last Saturday

I walked into my local shop in Nashville just to grab the new issue of Batman, and the owner handed me a free long box full of 90s X-Men books someone had donated. Scored a complete run of Age of Apocalypse, which I've been trying to track down for about 6 months. Has anyone else ever gotten a random find like that from a shop?

Used to think free long boxes were just containers for junk nobody wanted, but that Age of Apocalypse haul proves there's always hidden gold if you look. That run alone is worth some serious cash and reading time, plus the nostalgia factor hits hard. Random acts of comic shop kindness like that make this hobby better than just ordering everything online.

Always check those free boxes slowly, especially the bottom. I found a full run of Miracleman that someone just tossed in with a bunch of 90s Image stuff. Condition was rough on some but still way better than buying it piece by piece. Trust your gut and flip through every single issue.

Read somewhere that a guy found a near mint copy of Fantastic Four #52 in a free box at a garage sale. That story stuck with me and now I always dig through those boxes like a maniac.
