Came across a stat that said 60% of comic book fans have never actually been to a convention
I saw that on a forum while looking up tips for my first con in Chicago next month. Is that really true or just some random survey that got blown out of proportion?

Isn't 60% actually pretty high considering how long conventions have been gatekept by travel costs and social anxiety?

Forget the travel stuff though, 60% means introverts finally outnumbered the extroverts planning these things.

Did you see that article from a few months ago that broke down convention attendance by region? It said something like 40% of comic fans in the Midwest just flat out can't afford the travel and tickets for the big shows, so they stick to small local events or skip them entirely. I'd bet that 60% number is real, just skewed by people who live in rural areas or are like me and save up for one big convention every couple years.
