Serious question, ever grind your beans too fine?
My coffee tasted awful and I finally get why grind size matters.

Ugh, trying to be fancy is always the trap. @nancyhernandez, that "espresso for french press" move is a classic overthink. So here's my question: do we all just get impatient and assume finer means stronger, faster coffee? It's like we forget water needs room to move around the grounds, not just turn them into paste.

Yeah, my buddy did that last week trying to be fancy for his French press. He used the espresso setting by mistake and it was basically mud. Took one sip and his face just dropped, it was so bitter and gross. He had to throw the whole pot out and start over. I mean, it’s crazy how one little setting can wreck everything. He definitely learned his lesson the hard way.

My old roommate in college had this cheap grinder with just two settings, coarse and fine. He used fine for our French press once and it was like drinking grainy silt... totally undrinkable. What made it worse was we had guests over, so we had to pretend it was okay while secretly making instant coffee. It's not just the waste, it's the awkward moment that sticks with you. He never touched that grinder again without double checking.
