PSA: My $25 blade grinder beat the $150 burr one for French press and I feel like a fool
Last month in Portland I did a side by side test with my old blade grinder and a borrowed burr grinder, same beans, same water temp, and I honestly liked the blade cup more. The burr gave me a cleaner, more even cup, but the blade's messy mix of fine and coarse grounds made a richer, heavier brew that I actually wanted to drink in the morning. So what exactly am I missing here, or is the burr grinder hype just something we all repeat because some guy in 2009 wrote a blog post?

Ha, I totally drank the burr kool-aid for years and would've argued with you about this. Then my grinder broke and I used my roommate's cheap blade one for a week and honestly? Same thing, I stopped caring about the "perfect" cup and just wanted coffee that tasted good.
