Update: I used to hate using Git but now I get it
Went to a local coding meetup at the downtown library last Tuesday and one of the senior devs walked me through branching. I always thought Git was just for teams but he showed me how I could use it to try stuff without breaking my main code. Now I commit like 5 times a day on my solo projects. Has anyone else had a moment where a tool suddenly clicked for them?

Ditch those messy backup folders and start branching, you'll thank yourself later when you need to revert a bad idea.

Oh man, I had that exact moment with Photoshop filters back in college. I just used them as an afterthought for like 2 years until one night I accidentally stumbled into how to stack them in a specific order and suddenly my poster design went from "hot garbage" to "actually kind of cool." Of course, I proceeded to spend the next 3 days putting every filter combination known to man on a single photo of my cat, so maybe I took it too far. That senior dev did you a solid with the branching, I wasted so much time on backup folders named "project_final_REAL_final_2.
