Found a 1964½ Mustang in a barn outside Albany, and the owner's story got me
I drove out to a farm near Albany, Oregon about three weeks ago to look at a truck for sale, and the guy mentioned he had an old Mustang in his barn. It turned out to be a 1964½ model with the 260 V8, and he bought it new off the lot in Salem in June of 1964 for $2,368. He parked it in 1979 after the clutch went out, and it has sat on dirt since then with 47,000 original miles on the odometer. The body is rough, but the doors still shut with that solid click, and all the trim is there in a coffee can on the workbench. I am going back this weekend with a jack and a flashlight to check the frame rails, and I am wondering if anyone here has bought a car that sat this long and what the hidden costs turned out to be.
