Dropped $280 on a rotary chimney brush kit and I'm honestly not sure it was worth it
I run a small sweep outfit out of Dayton and for six seasons I did every flue by hand with a standard round brush on rods. Back in March I finally bought a rotary kit with the whip and the drill adapter, cost me about $280 all in. First three jobs it felt like cheating, cut my time on a nasty 30 foot liner from 90 minutes to maybe 35. But on older clay tile flues I've cracked two tiles already, and the hand brush never did that once. So now I'm stuck, do I keep the rotary for steel liners only and eat the cost, or go back to the rods and sell the kit? Curious what you all do.
