My truck died at the Soap Lake rest stop and a stranger with jumper cables changed my day
Two weeks ago I was driving back from a fire training in Spokane when my truck wouldn't start at the rest stop outside Soap Lake around 9pm. A guy in a beat up Ford pulled over before I even got my hood up, and after messing with the cables for 10 minutes he said "your battery is fine, it's your alternator." How do you tell the difference between a dead battery and a bad alternator when you're stuck somewhere with no tools?
