Bought a 'guaranteed' parking pass from a guy outside the stadium

It was for a big game in Atlanta, and I handed over $40 cash for a slip of paper that turned out to be a fake (the lot attendant just laughed and pointed to the real ticket booth). Has anyone else gotten scammed by a too-good-to-be-true deal from a stranger on the street?

Honestly, is it even that big of a deal? You're out forty bucks but you got a funny story (and a lesson) out of it. I'd just laugh it off and move on.

Man, that's rough. What I do now is I ONLY buy from the official lot attendants in their vests. After I got burned on a concert ticket, I started asking to see their event-issued ID badge before I hand over any cash. It feels awkward but it saves the hassle.

Yeah, asking for that ID badge is key. My buddy learned the hard way at a football game last fall. He paid a guy in a parking lot for "field level" seats, turned out they were fake print jobs for the nosebleed section. Dude just had a lanyard, no real event badge. My friend missed the whole first quarter arguing with security.
