A guy at the laundromat told me to always check the dryer filter first
My dryer was taking forever, and this older man folding his shirts said, 'Kid, it's always the filter.' I ignored him, called a repair guy, and he found a sock jammed in the filter after charging me $120. Anyone else have a simple piece of advice they wish they'd listened to?

That advice applies to the lint trap, not the filter.

Check the manual for your specific dryer model. They use those terms in different ways sometimes. Mine calls the whole drawer the filter but the little screen inside is the trap.
