My cat walked across my laptop during a job interview and the guy hired me anyway
Last Tuesday I had a Zoom interview for a front desk job at a hotel in Boise, and about 10 minutes in my cat Mango jumped on my desk and sat right on the keyboard. I panicked and tried to shoo her off but she just stared into the camera like she owned the place, and the interviewer started laughing. He asked her name and said his own cat once knocked a mug of coffee onto his laptop mid meeting. I got the job, and honestly I think Mango helped me more than my answers did. Has anyone else had a pet actually help them out in a call instead of ruining it?

My buddy's dog did something like this back in 2021, walked right into frame during a sales call with a big client and started wagging at the laptop screen. The client spent five minutes talking about his own golden retriever instead of grilling my buddy on pricing, and he closed the deal that same week. I've noticed that a pet cutting into a serious moment does something a resume or a firm handshake just can't do. It flips the whole thing from a test into a real talk between two people. You can't fake that kind of moment, and the other person knows it. So yeah, Mango didn't just get lucky for you, she showed the guy you're a human he'd actually want at the front desk every day.
