I laughed at my sister's pet camera claims until mine caught the proof
My sister swore her indoor camera caught her cat meowing at the exact moment her boss asked about a deadline. I figured she was exaggerating for sympathy. Last Tuesday I was on a call with a client in Chicago and my dog barked right as I said 'no problem with the timeline.' The recording showed he waited for that specific pause, almost like he knew. Embarrassing in the moment, but now I genuinely wonder, how many of our pets are actually reacting to tone rather than just making noise? Has anyone else reviewed footage and found their animal did it on purpose?

Mine does the same thing with my morning meetings. Every time I say "let me pull up the numbers" he starts whining at the door, like he clocked that phrase means I'll be stuck at my desk for another 20 minutes. I went back through two weeks of footage and he does it almost every time, but never when I'm just talking to my wife. So yeah, they're reading tone and timing way more than we give them credit for. Dogs pick up on the little pauses and pitch drops before we even finish the sentence. Your dog nailed that pause because he's been listening to you talk on calls for months.
