An old installer's comment about knee kickers changed my whole routine
Last Tuesday I was doing a bedroom in Eugene and ran into this guy who's been laying carpet since the 80s. He watched me stretch a seam and said 'you're fighting the backing, not the pad'. I thought about it and he meant I was kicking way too hard instead of letting the carpet settle. So I backed off, took shorter strokes, and the ripple just... vanished. Has anyone else had a senior guy point out something obvious that you'd been doing wrong for years?
