Hot take: a bowed stud in a load wall cost me 4 hours, and I blame the lumber yard
Picked up a stack of 2x4s from the yard off Route 9 in Poughkeepsie and one stud had a bow you could see from the truck. I figured I'd just crown it and move on, but it threw my plate layout off so bad I had to pull the whole wall apart and re-cut two plates. Four hours gone on a Tuesday for one lousy board, and I'm done trusting the yard to sort their own stock. Do you guys check every stud before it goes in, or is that just me being slow?
