Tried a 'no meetings' Wednesday for my team of 5, and productivity actually tanked.

Wait, did you track the work that got pushed to Thursday? I mean, smith.anna is right about the chaos shift, but maybe the bigger issue is that some tasks just need daily talk to keep moving. Could be that your team's work is too connected for a full quiet day.

Huh, that's interesting but maybe it's not a total failure? Like, did you check if the work just got moved to other days? Sometimes my team gets quiet on a no-meeting day because they're actually focused, but then we have a crazy Thursday catching up. Could be the type of work you do needs more quick check-ins.

Oh man, that's such a good point. I see this all the time with my gym's "quiet hours" - everyone just shifts their noisy workouts to right before closing. It never actually reduces the total chaos, just moves it. Your team's quiet Wednesday/chaotic Thursday is probably the exact same thing.
