Spent $400 on a career coach, got a pep talk and a worksheet

I figured with my resume going nowhere after 8 months of applying, a professional would spot what I was missing. The coach had great reviews and seemed legit, so I signed up for four sessions at $100 each. Session one was mostly her asking how I feel about my career. Session two, she handed me a printable goal chart I could have found for free. Session three, she told me to 'network more' and ended 15 minutes early. Session four was basically her reading my resume back to me and saying it looks fine. I didn't get a single real edit, no interview tips, nothing about job boards or recruiters. The next week I asked a friend who hires people and she fixed my resume in one hour for the cost of a beer. So here's the question, does anyone actually benefit from paid career coaches or are most of us just donating to someone's side hustle? Because I could have spent that money on classes with actual skills.

Ugh, same thing happened to me, paid $350 and all I got was a fancy word document about my "strengths"!
