My planned group hike got rained out, so I drove to Portland and hit every record shop on Hawthorne instead

Honestly, I used to be the person who'd just go home if plans fell through. Last October my buddy Sam and I had a 14-mile trail day lined up near Mount Hood, and the forecast was trash by 9am. I said forget it, drove 45 minutes into Portland, and spent 8 hours flipping through crates at 5 different shops. Found a first press of a 1977 funk record for $12, and now I actually look forward to canceled outdoors stuff because it gives me a free pass to do solo city stuff I'd never schedule otherwise. Has anyone else turned a ruined plan into a weird new hobby or routine?
