Finally tried the 'trash bag trick' for canceled camping trip

Storm hit Friday, so I just threw all my damp camping gear in black trash bags with kitty litter to dry out. Worked so well I might do it on purpose next time - anyone else got a weird rain plan backup?

Hate to be that person but kitty litter is actually for absorbing moisture while stuff is stored, not really for drying things out. It can get kinda sludgy if the gear is still wet.

lol yeah "sludgy" is exactly the right word for it. It kinda reminds me of how people use baking soda in the fridge thinking it'll absorb smells forever, but really it just sits there after a week doing nothing. So many of these tips sound good in theory but fall apart once you actually try em in real life.

Am I the only one who actually had good results with this? @wendy628 I get that it can get sludgy if you overdo it but if you just use a light layer it pulls the dampness out without turning into a mess.
