Appreciation post: I used to think a canceled dinner meant a boring night, but after my friend bailed last minute in Denver, I ordered a pizza and finally watched that 3-hour movie I'd been putting off.

Now I actually look forward to plans falling through because it forces me to enjoy my own company, so does anyone else secretly hope for a last-minute text sometimes?

Honestly, you should just schedule a solo night on purpose. It takes the pressure off and you get the same result without the flaky friend. The best plans are sometimes the ones you make for yourself.

Saw my buddy Dave get a last minute cancel for a concert last month. He almost didn't go, but ended up buying a cheap single ticket at the door. He said he got a better seat than planned, met some cool people in line, and actually remembered the whole show instead of just talking through it. He seemed way happier than when his original group went. Maybe there's something to just rolling with the change, you know?
