Serious question, did anyone else build their whole MVP around a feature nobody wanted?

We spent 4 months coding a fancy split-bill tool for our Toronto-based app... then our first 10 beta users all asked for the same basic budget tracker instead. Has anyone else had to totally switch gears after launch?
