Two years ago I was onboarding small business clients by hand, copying names and SINs into our database, a spreadsheet, and a separate KYC tool. It took about 40 minutes per client and I always missed something. Then a loan officer in Halifax told me FINTRAC doesn't care how many tools you use, only that you can show the trail. We switched to one API feed into a single compliance dashboard and onboarding dropped to 9 minutes. Has anyone else had a bank partner push back on their audit trail even after going digital?
Nine minutes is a huge jump, nice work on that. The Halifax loan officer was right, it's the trail that matters, not the tool count. But yeah, banks do push back even when you're all digital, usually because your audit log has gaps like missing timestamps or edits that overwrite the old value. Make sure each change keeps a who, what, and when record, then you can hand them the history in one shot.
