I finally got burned by a fintech startup's fine print
I signed up with this Canadian payments startup called PayCircle back in March because they promised 1.5% processing fees. After 4 months and about $12k in transactions, I noticed my actual fees were more like 2.8%. Turned out there was a monthly minimum I missed and extra charges for chargebacks they didn't make obvious. Anyone else run into hidden fees with these newer fintech companies?

Laughing but also crying for you (the good kind of laughing, not the mean kind). I swear these startups hide fees like my kids hide vegetables in their napkins.

Girl tell me about it. @nancycooper I started screenshotting every screen during signup just to catch those surprise costs before they hit my card. It helped a ton because then I could compare the final price with what they advertised first.

Man that's actually genius, I wish I'd thought of that sooner. Got burned last month by some subscription adding a "service fee" on the confirmation page that wasn't listed anywhere during the signup flow.
