Spent $80 on a set of JIS screwdrivers and it was the best money I ever wasted

I kept stripping screws on old Canon FD lenses, thinking I just had a bad Phillips set. Turns out they use Japanese Industrial Standard screws, which look almost the same but are different. The JIS drivers bit perfectly and saved three lens mounts I was ready to scrap. Anyone else run into this on vintage gear?

That "best money I ever wasted" line is perfect. It's funny how the right tool can feel like a splurge until it saves a project. I bet a lot of old electronics and motorcycles have the same JIS surprise.

Yeah, I used to think that "best money I ever wasted" idea was silly, but you're right, @michael_jenkins39, it totally clicks once a tool saves you from a stripped screw.

But a stripped screw just means you need better screws.
