Spent 3 hours tracking a light leak on a Pentax K1000 and it was just a missing foam strip on the hinge side
Took me way too long to figure out because I kept checking the mirror box and film door groove, has anyone else had a leak that obvious hide in a spot you never think to look?
Started checking the film canister side first after dealing with a similar leak on a Minolta XG-M. Then you just run your fingernail along the hinge groove and find the missing piece right away.
You're telling me you checked the mirror box and film door groove for 3 hours and it was just the hinge foam the whole time? I genuinely felt my blood pressure spike reading that. I've been there with a beat up Olympus OM-1 and a light leak that looked like a worm crawling across the film. The hinge side is the one spot nobody ever thinks to check because it's not really part of the seal groove you look at. You stare at the light seals on the back and the mirror bumper but that little strip on the hinge just hides there like it's nothing.
