Spent $80 on a Klein fish tape puller and it paid for itself in one afternoon

It's funny how the cheapest tools end up costing you the most in the long run... I've got a drawer full of those $20 fish tapes that broke the first time I really needed them. Spent good money on a proper Klein set and haven't looked back since, that's just how it goes with most things you actually use for work. There's a pattern there where people try to save a few bucks upfront and end up spending way more over time... it's not just tools either, happens with appliances and even cars.

That $80 Klein tape is a perfect example of something @nancycooper just nailed. My buddy spent $35 on a cheap one last year and it snapped on the second job, then he had to borrow mine while his new one was being shipped. The real pattern I keep seeing is in kitchen stuff, like how people buy a $20 blender from a discount store that dies in six months, then finally get a Vitamix or something that lasts ten years. Same with winter coats, a $60 one from a big box store falls apart after one season but a good Carhartt or Patagonia will be worn for a decade. It's almost like we've been trained to think cheap equals smart, but really it's just a trap where you pay twice in frustration and money. Once you start noticing it, you see it everywhere from lawnmowers to phone chargers.
