PSA: Marking drops with orange tape vs. white zip ties on rural jobs
Did a job in Fillmore County last week where the lead guy used orange survey tape on every drop in a 300 foot run. I have always used white zip ties myself. But after three hours of trudging through wet brush in the dark trying to trace his lines back to the tap, I saw the orange tape catching the truck headlights from like 50 feet away. My white zip ties? Invisible after sunset. Took me longer but I saw the point. Have you guys ever switched marking colors and noticed a real difference?

Hang on man, it's orange tape for marking drops. Not exactly life or death. Yeah, it's a pain tracing white zip ties at night but how often are you really working that late in wet brush anyway? Most of my jobs I'm packed up and gone before the sun even thinks about setting. I get the visibility argument but I also think guys overthink this stuff. My white ties have never cost me more than an extra ten minutes of squinting.

Fair enough man. Orange tape is worth it if you actually work brush at night but most of us don't.
