I switched from staples to screw clips on a 3 story drop and it almost cost me my ladder
Did a 3 story exterior drop in Tacoma on Tuesday and had to pick between my usual staples or those screw on cable clips. I went with the clips because the homeowner wanted it to look clean, and about 40 feet up one pulled loose when the wind hit the span. The cable whipped back and smacked my ladder hard enough that I had to grab the gutter to stay steady. Turns out I was using 1/4 inch clips on RG11 that needed the bigger size, and the screw heads were stripping on the old siding. Anyone else run into clips that dont hold on wood siding, or am I just picking the wrong ones?
